Neneh Cherry - Blank Project

Stream the extremely promising first taste of Cherry's new album, produced by Four Tet.

It was recently announced that Neneh Cherry would be releasing a new album – her first release of solo material in absolutely ages – as produced by the eternally busy Four Tet (who has already worked on at least two high profile records this year) and feauring both recent Dummy Mixers RocketNumberNine as her backing band and a collaboration with Robyn(!). We've now got a few more concrete details about the record and a taster of its sound in the form of title track Blank Record to whet the collective appetite.

With all those names in the mix it might be easy to forget whose record this is, but on Blank Record it's clear that Cherry is the star – the backing track, a percussive, jazzy stomper that just gets harder and harder as the song goes on, is a wicked compliment to her voice rather than a show-stealer. Promising stuff indeed.
