Neneh Cherry is releasing a new, Four Tet-produced album early 2014

Plus! Rocketnumbernine were her session band.

We've known about Neneh Cherry's forthcoming, Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet-produced album for a while now, but today record label Smalltown Supersound have officially announced the album as being due early next year, and that it'll feature none other than the amazing Robyn on one of the tracks.

Hebden has been a busy bee recently, not just with his own album 'Beautiful Rewind' (and the marathon sessions he's doing to promote it), but also in producing for Omar Souleyman's first official album.

Interestingly, Cherry's backing band will be none other than psychedelic soul brothers and recent Dummy mixers RocketNumberNine, who talked to us briefly just last week about the collaboration. "Sometimes when we've been rehearsing together in Walthamstow we look across at Miss Cherry and really do have to slap ourselves! She's the best."

It's not the first time that Cherry and Hebden have worked together – he remixed the Suicide cover Dream Baby Dream from her previous album with The Thing, and fairly recently produced her track Nina with the Jungle Brothers' Afrika Baby Bam.

Neneh Cherry is the daughter of Don Cherry and has been releasing records for years now, starting with 1989's 'Raw Like Sushi' and going as far as 2012's 'The Cherry Thing', the album she recorded with The Thing. This new album will be the first time she has released a record under her own name, rather than in a band or with collaborators, since 1996's 'Man'.
