Watch a live session from Mount Kimbie, recorded on a rooftop in South London

New Music Cities is a series of short films created by Dazed Vision and high street brand All Saints that gives a glimpse into the past, present, and future underground scenes of various cities across the globe. You might've already seen their first installment, which looked at New York's defiant alternative community, featuring everyone from punk legend Richard Hell to a metal band made up of 12-year-olds, but their latest edition looks a little closer to home, honing in on South London and featuring interviews with experimental pop greats Micachu and Kwes, crossover star Katy B, and the exquisite Mount Kimbie.

The latter have put together a trailer-by-way-of-live session featuring a live performance of Home Recording on a South London rooftop. Home Recording is taken from Mount Kimbie's second album, 'Cold Spring Fault Less Youth' – one of our favourite albums to have come out last year, it's worth mentioning again and again and again – and the video is as fine an illustration of the band's progression on that record as you could hope to get. The live drummer and hardware instruments should give enough of an indication of how out-of-the-box that album feels (there's nary a laptop in site), while the constant instrument swapping demonstrates the various subtle complexities and diversities of Mount Kimbie's songwriting. The drummer even starts strumming a guitar during of the breakdowns.

Future episodes of the series travel to places that you may be less familiar with, exploring the music scenes of Gothenburg and Tokyo. You can watch the full documentary at the All Saints site.
