Warpaint – Billie Holiday

Warpaint were totally transfixing at Field Day, and one of the highlights was Billie Holiday, their haunting cover-not-cover of Mary Wells’s early Motown masterpiece ‘My Guy’. Originally appearing on their ‘Exquisite Corpse’ EP, the track has been mixed again by Steve Mackey, and though we prefer that version over the Pulp bassist’s more opulent and overtly retro take, it’s a nice chance to share it with you. It’ll appear on the deluxe edition of ‘The Fool’ in September on Rough Trade, which will include accompanying remixes and the debut EP in one package.
