As reported yesterday, Hudson Mohawke is releasing a new EP at the end of September, his first since 2011's 'Satin Panthers'. Its title track, Chimes, appeared on an Apple ad, but he's since uploaded a full version of the track to Soundcloud.
HudMo's production technique has come on hugely over the years and it's none more evident in the Chimes: for all the trap producers that popped up over the past couple of years heavily indebted to HudMo's own Thunder Bay and his work with Lunice as TNGHT, no one could put sounds together with the same clarity, weight, and force as he could. That said, we're still hoping that his next record will see him embrace some of the weirder tendencies he exhibited on 2009's 'Butter' rather than straight-up dancefloor destroyers.
Bonus: there's a version of the track out there featuring Pusha T.
Warp Records release 'Chimes' on September 30th 2014 (pre-order).
