St Vincent returns with 'Strange Mercy'

St Vincent, a singer and graduate of Glenn Branca’s 100 Guitar Orchestra, the Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Steven’s bands brought out ‘Actor’, her second album, in 2009 on 4AD. If you’re anything like us, you spend too long listening to whale song, starkly detuned tape loops or five songs playing at once to pay much attention to such tasteful, Word magazine-friendly music as St Vincent, but seriously, it’s a fantastically brittle, orchestral record.

Anyway, she’s back with ‘Strange Mercy’, also on 4AD, set for a September release, and it’ll probably be great, actually.
