Snoop Lion ft. Mavado and Popcaan - Lighters Up (prod. by Major Lazer)

However well-meaning Snoop’s Rastafarian conversion may be, the music it’s produced so far has been pretty bad – firmly proving the fact that US rappers should only drift into patois or Iyaric for a maximum of about four bars on any given track.

On Lighters Up, Snoop Lion is decent on the chorus and clunky on the verse but it has given Major Lazer the chance to make a very pleasant, slow-rumbling song about unity that brings together leading Jamaican artists and one-time rivals Mavado and Popcaan, so cheers anyway Snoop! This song will be released on December 18th, with the album ‘Reincarnated’ out sometime next spring.
