With a luxurious, sprawling length, On The Way weaves the female and the male with the human and the mechanical to create something that, like both artists’ solo output, is an affecting mixture of “I want to dance” and “I want to sit sighing and staring into space.” Richly textured and endlessly listenable, the collaborative tracks put out by the duo so far (listen to Let It Go here) have us hoping this is anything but a short story. Here’s to 2013, and the promise it holds.
