Premiere: Soda Plains - Rushes
Soda Plains is a Berlin-based artist (originally from Hong Kong, via the UK's West Midlands – talk about well-travelled) who released a mixtape through DIS Magazine, 'Firmiana Simplex', and appeared on a much-listened to radio show which also featured Danny L Harle and SOPHIE.
Rushes is the proper debut release from Soda Plains, arriving on Black Ocean, the record label set up by Renaissance Man. It sounds a bit like an inverted version of the Gabryelle refix.
Here's a couple of words about the label from its press release: "Continuing the label’s commitment to its No Beat Is Illegal policy, this is dance music stripped of any territorial markers: trans-everything garage, global funky, pan-club, decentralized grime. Soda Plains’ EP is the first in a string of Black Ocean releases to be unleashed upon the world during the upcoming months." Expect new material on the label to come from M.E.S.H., N’Bome, Initiative, and more.
Black Ocean release the 'Rushes' EP on December 8th 2014.
