Premiere: S L V - Dagger

S L V, not to be confused with 90s R&B trio SWV, is a collaboration between Shanghai producer Downstate and Tokyo's Hamacide. Like their near-namesake, there's a seductive lilt at the heart of their production. New missive Dagger opens with a burst of footwork's frenetic energy and what sounds like a ballroom vocal sample – "Get your money / hustle up" – but it soon melts into vintage Moby style cinematic warmth. You know what I mean: waves of happy/sad; melancholic joy. It's being released by SVBKVLT, a new Shanghai label that has grown out of the city's Sub-Culture night, and is really worth your ear time.
