Ñaka Ñaka - Juan Pestanas

Ñaka Ñaka hails from Mexico City but is based in New York, and ‘Juan Pestanas’ is the name of his most recent tape, put out through the ever-reliable Opal Tapes earlier this month. The audio is gritty, the rhythms are machine-made and the bass low, but despite those descriptors this isn’t the sort of guttural, primitive drone techno that’s everywhere right now – there’s something romantic about Ñaka Ñaka’s melodies.
