Michael Jackson - Song Groove (Rushmore Reformed Mix)
Rushmore has been pretty prolific on the remix side of things this year. As one of the men behind the semi-legal, basement-hopping east London party Rhythm Talk and niche club night House Of Trax, he has impressed us with a handful of brilliant re-imaginings, including Butch’s No Worries and Hardrive’s classic Deep Inside, a track also refixed by Pearson Sound. Now, the east London-based producer has submitted a new off-kilter remix of MJ’s Song Groove to get you going ahead of their upcoming events this weekend.
In the London producer’s own words: “It was a special edition unreleased track as part of the BAD 25 celebration which I remixed for personal use back in October. I’ve completely chopped up the original, not added anything new, hence the ‘Reformed Mix’ title. It’s a full on drum track version with minimal hits of Jackson’s signature ‘woooooh’ and the odd stab referencing the original groove. A serious peak time jack track.”
Rhythm Talk will take over XOYO Room 2 at Bugged Out & The Hydra Present: Night Slugs Allstars Winter Rave on Saturday 15th December (details). Jam City, Girl Unit, Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 and Berlin’s Soundstream will all play in Room 1. Nightslugs and Rhythm Talk will also throw an afterparty at the nearby Victorian Vaults (details).
