James Ferraro will release a new album in October
James Ferraro will release a new album named ‘NYC, HELL 3:00 AM’ through his regular home Hippos In Tanks later this year, according to his Twitter [via FACT].
Ferraro has been operating on the fringes of experimental and lo-fi music for years now, but he secured a reputation as one of the most interesting and confounding figures in modern music with the release of the hi-fi, claustrophobic concept album ‘Far Side Virtual’ in 2011.
The follow-up album, last year’s ‘Sushi’, was confusingly straightforward by comparison, and saw him venturing into uncharted territories of sound and structure. ‘NYC, HELL 3:00 AM’ will be his first album since then, although he did release a mixtape named ‘COLD’ earlier this year that saw him return to slightly more conceptual ideas.
Whether ‘NYC, HELL 3:00 AM’ will be a continuation of the sound established in ‘COLD’ or whether it will venture into new waters is anybody’s guess, but we’re sure interested. You can watch a trailer for the album and view its artwork below.
Hippos In Tanks will release ‘NYC, HELL 3:00 AM’ on October 15th.
