I Jahbar - Spy

In 2011, noisemakers Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras visited Jamaica to record an album with legendary reggae outfit The Congos, resulting in a pretty cool album for RVNG Intl.‘s always interesting FRKWYS series. But it was a bit more than a simple visit out – it ended up in a wider collaboration with the local music community, centered around the fishing village of Forum. Spy is the unit’s second release, a cosmic dancehall cut by I Jahbar, a dude who lives and works on his farm near Kingston (a farm which may or may not grow certain plants). The tinny riddim comes from label and production unit Duppy Gun, AKA Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras themselves, and appears as an instrumental on the 12”.
