Ethernet - Correction

Portland "pulse ambient" artist previews first track from new album 'Opus 2'.

Ethernet is the recording name of Portland composer/musician Tim Gray who describes his music as “pulse ambient” on his Facebook page. A graduate of California’s Mill College, which counts recent Dummy interviewee Holly Herndon amongst its esteemed almuni, Gray’s master thesis investigated the use of sound for control, healing and empowerment. You can definitely hear that thinking in Correction, the first cut from his forthcoming new album ‘Opus 2’ on Kranky, which was recorded “between late-night shifts providing technical support for hospital operating rooms” according to the press release. Correction sounds a little like how one would imagine being inside a wind chime would feel, minus any twee association, or maybe, as his name suggests, inside a data-carrying cable. It flows and vibrates unquestioningly, soothingly.

Kranky will release Ethernet ‘Opus 2’ on 7th January 2013.
