Los Angeles is a city synonymous with sunsets, dream makers (and breakers), and creative collaborations – making it the perfect home for Dummy's West Coast arrival. Taking up residence at the Ace Hotel in Downtown LA for the night, Dummy will showcase audio and visual artists from this enigmatic city in collaboration with LA's premiere club music label, Private Selection, and digital visual artist Crash Override.
Boasting an impressive roster, Private Selection is home to LA's most memorable club music acts and label members Dreams, Arkitect and Aerial will all be in attendance, kicking off on the rooftop at 9pm and heading into the early morning of 3am (and they say New York is the city that never sleeps…)
Dreams, aka Jesse Pimenta, is a slow burner. Using heavy beats and dark hued synths, the LA based artist continues to impress and draw crowds from his latest PS001 release, Energy. Aggressive and experimental, Arkitect draws inspiration from the very origin of his name – sharp cornered, a surprising light and unexpected synth pepper his tracks. Though he hasn't released anything new in over a year, it's safe to say that his reputation for transforming any LA club is what continues to excited fans across the city. Last on the night's lineup, Aerial aka Devin Ronneberg, epitomises a new wave of dark house. Along with being the co-head of the label, his latest release from Private Selection, Strut was a massive success. With precise production, it's surrounded by punchy percussion with difficult to pin-down beats that create a sense of intrigue and wonder.
Art and music are the cogs that turn the collaborative wheel in Los Angeles. Both mediums uplift the other almost seamlessly. The visual art for the event will be provided by digital designer, Crash Override, who employs colours a multitude of colours and 3D technology to produce images that evoke a complete sense of escape.
