Crowdfunder launched to save The Jazz Café

"Without your help, there is now the very real prospect that The Jazz Café will not survive"

Camden venue The Jazz Café is asking for donations in return for future experiences to help it survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

“For the first time in 30 years, we have shut our doors with no guarantee of reopening,” the venue says. “Just like so many others, we are facing the biggest challenge in our history.”

“Since closing due to the pandemic, we’ve had absolutely no income. However, we still have outgoings, most significantly rent. Our overheads while we remain closed are £31,000 a month,” it adds.

“We have received no rent relief from our landlord and we do not qualify for a government grant.”

Rather than asking for charitable donations, the venue is asking people to pledge money for future benefits. At the minimum end of the scale, £5 will get you a pint or glass of wine when you next visit, while £1000 will ensure you and a friend have entry to every gig at The Jazz Café for the next five years and five VIP tickets for Maiden Voyage Festival 2021.

At the time of writing, over £18,000 has been raised for the venue.
