Blood Orange - West Drive (Profit Vocal Dub 2)
Dev Hynes' Blood Orange project is returning to the UK early next year and has announced a new date in at London's Village Underground, and to entice you into reading this tidbit of information, he's shared a new song West Drive (Profit Vocal Dub).
This is one of the many songs that didn't make it onto his recent album 'Cupid Deluxe', and as you'd probably expect from that, it's not especially vital. It is, however, quite an interesting look into Hynes' creative process. As he writes on its Soundcloud description, "There are literally 7 versions of this song. This is 1 of roughly a million cuts that didn't make it onto the album Cupid Deluxe'."
The song, which features Samantha Urbani, is nowhere near as polished as anything else on the album, but is more like a classic 12" dubstramental from the mid-to-late '80s production era that Hynes so obviously admires, with lots of reverb FX and empty space.
Blood Orange will play at the Village Underground on February 19th 2014.
