Bill Withers dies aged 81
Bill Withers has passed away at the age of 81 after suffering heart complications, the Associated Press has reported.
The three-time Grammy Award winner wrote and sang on a host of soul songs in the ’70s that have stood the test of time, including ‘Lovely Day‘ and ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’.
Withers’ family made a statement to the AP, saying: “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father. A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other.
“As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world. In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones.”
Bill Withers… thats too much bad news…such special moments spent listening to his music. Lost for words on this one. RIP
