Austin Peralta, jazz pianist (1990-2012)
Tributes have been flooding in from across the music world this morning after the tragic news was shared that Austin Peralta has died at just 22.
Peralta, son of Z-Boy skateboarder and filmmaker Stacy Peralta, displayed prodigious talent on the piano from an early age, and as a teenager was already performing with his own jazz group. By the tender age of 16, he’d already had two LPs released in Japan.
He later came under the radar of Brainfeeder, who released his LP ‘Endless Planets’ last year. Peralta also collaborated with Erykah Badu, contributed to Flying Lotus’ recent release ‘Until The Quiet Comes’, and was working on a new album of his own for Brainfeeder.
Those today honouring his life – ranging from jazz musicians, members of the world of hip-hop, to electronic artists – is a testament to what an immensely gifted talent he was considered to be:
I am speechless…
