Premiere: Liphemra - Young

LA newcomer Liphemra is actually really interesting. Having already built up an impressive repertoire including roles such as percussionist for the Cold War Kids, Stones Throw Records affiliate and director of hip-hop music videos for artists like Homeboy Sandman. And we are premiering one of her first solo songs, right here.

The individualism in Liphemra’s music stems from her roots in jazz, the lack of constraint and structure enforced by logic, the blend of improvisation and musical law, the conscious and the subconscious. As a solo artist Liphemra handles guitar and vocals with an infectious confidence and acute creativity, charging Young with shady, alluring ambience, while simultaneously taking care not to let this over-shadow the precise technicality on the track’s instrumentation. It’s a bold new sound, and a very promising start to her new direction.
