Premiere: Iglooghost-championed BABii shows off dizzying electronics on 'SEiiZURE'
Hailing from Margate (an area that’s quickly turning into a hub for emerging artists), BABii’s ‘SEiiZURE’ is the second example of the woozy, weirdo electronica she makes.
The producer and vocalist had only one track, ‘Phantom‘, to her name until now, but is already being picked up far and wide – with a SXSW booking under her belt.
She’s been supported by Brainfeeder-signed oddball Iglooghost, after appearing on his 2018 ‘Clear Tamei’ EP, and he played new cuts of hers on his Diplo & Friends Radio 1 mix.
Of the track, BABii says: “ii NEARLY PUT THiiS SONG iiN THE BiiN BUT iiGLOOGHOST HEARD A SMALL CLiiP FROM iiT WHEN ii USED TO POST PARTS OF SONGS ON MY iiNSTAGRAM AND ENCOURAGED ME TO FiiNiiSH iiT. NOW iiT’S ONE OF MY FAVOURiiTE SONGS ON THE RECORD.”
A BABii album, titled ‘HiiDE’, is coming this year on Deathwaltz Originals. In parts co-produced by Adrian Sherwood, it supposedly ‘focuses on the key themes of hiding and secrets’.
‘SEiiZURE’, which we’re premiering below, at once recalls Grimes and CHVRCHES with its dizzying blend of pop and thrilling electronics.
