There’s clearly something in the water in South London. Hailing from Norwood Junction, Benny Mails is just another in a string of hyper-talented creatives, growing up surrounded by rap and even participating in b-boy championships as a kid.

‘Marathon’ arrives after a blistering series of soul, funk and rap-soaked singles and an eagerly-received COLORS session. Over a dark, trap-leaning beat produced by Halogenix/Lordel, Benny details his desire for success – after all, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Directed by Jack Buckley (who has previously worked with slowthai, Little Simz and Dave), ‘Marathon’s video finds Benny distilling the energy of his physical live performance into two and a half minutes.

“This video is a chance for Benny to show his fiery spirit,” he says of ‘Marathon’. “I didn’t want to create anything too calculated. We were really free with the production and wanted it to feel natural, giving me a chance to perform and visually express everything I speak about in the song”

Benny plays a London headline show at Corsica Studios on Wednesday 23rd October – tickets go on sale at Friday from 10am, from here.
