Night Works - Long Forgotten Boy (Erol Alkan's extended rework)

Head of Phantasy Sound, one half of Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve, and all round club legend Erol Alkan has turned in an eight-minute rework of Long Forgotten Boy, the latest single lifted from Night Works’s debut album ‘Urban Heat Island’, which was released this week. The original was an insistent piece of dazzling pop, crafted through the lightest of offbeat brushstrokes. Erol gives it the classic disco rework treatment, abstracting Long Forgotten Boy around hissing beatwork and a cut-up vocal, swirling into understated periods of rise and release.

Phantasy are putting out the rework alongside a Daniel Avery remix of The Eveningtime, and its extended length could well come in handy when Erol completes his run of Easter Thursday marathons with a downright ridiculous 10-hour set at FIRE on the 28th March.

Loose Lips released Night Works’ ‘Urban Heat Island’ on the 4th March, and Phantasy will release ‘Long Forgotten Boy (Erol Alkan’s Extended Rework)’/‘The Eveningtime (Daniel Avery Remix)’ as a limited edition 12” on the 18th March.
