Jericho Noguera shares his enchanting new jazz-flecked single 'Lips Are Blue'

"I’ve been able to experiment with blending hints of psychedelia into the roots of the blossoming jazz revival in London."

Singer-songwriter Jericho Noguera today shares his enchanting new jazz-flecked single ‘Lips Are Blue’, a warm and fuzzy slow jam with hints of psychedelia. Jericho is a Year 6 Future Bubbler, the development programme part of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings, where he was able to work with some current jazz superstars that’s coming out of South London right now, for instance Harvey Grant (Puma Blue, Joy Crookes), Charlie Millar (Lianne La Havas, Oscar Jerome), and the Brownswood team (Nubya Garcia, Skinny Pelembe). His latest track, ‘Lips Are Blue’ pays homage to some of these sounds.

Jericho comments, “I’ve been settling into my sound during my time on the Future Bubblers program. I’ve been able to experiment with blending hints of psychedelia into the roots of the blossoming jazz revival in London.”

Growing up in Cheltenham on the sounds of Jeff Buckley, Steve Reich, Bill Withers, Tom Yorke, and taking influence from contemporary musicians such as Steve Lacy and Kaytranada, led Jericho to bring his own touch to his jazz surroundings, aided by his ability as a multi-instrumentalist. Now based in Birmingham, Jericho offers up ‘Lips Are Blue’, a chill-out track with serene saxophone, hazy guitar licks and understated vocal schmooze. The single cements Jericho’s contemporary sound yet adds freshness and originality.

‘Lips Are Blue’ is out now on DMY.
