It starts off sounding acid-soaked and rather Hacienda-esque, all 808 drive and trippy squiggles. Then there’s some ravey pianos, sumptuous synth washes, and that vocal sample being swirled up and up. Hello, 1995!
This is the new remix to emerge of Manchester producer (formerly duo) D/R/U/G/S’s previous single ‘Love/Lust’ on Moshi Moshi imprint Tender Age. There’s always been something overblown and ecstatic about D/R/U/G/S synth jams, something this remix highlights rather well. It’s a track that’s day-dreaming of being played by Carl Cox in a ’90s stadium rave. Which isn’t a bad ambition to hold.
