NONCLASSICAL's September podcast

NONCLASSICAL is a club-night and record label based in London that’s been pioneering a movement in classical music nightlife since 2003. It’s founder, Gabriel Prokofiev has built a loyal following over the years and thrown events at Peckham’s Bussey Building, Hoxton’s The Macbeth, and Shoreditch’s The Horse & Groom. I was blown away at the first NONCLASSICAL party I went to three years ago by how incongruous the crowd was to the older, posh, beard-stroking image that is often associated with contemporary classical music. Prokofiev has truly brought a genre once thought inaccessible to the capitol’s younger audiences through live performances and resident DJs. The record label has also enjoyed success with a wealth of stunning pieces by talented young composers, and has even commissioned remixes from the likes of Thom Yorke and Hot Chip. Each month they post a podcast on their site and September’s mix has been crafted together by their next headliner, G Project.
