Daniel Avery's Divided Love tape (Side B)

In his Stopmakingme guise, Daniel Avery first caught my ear about four years ago as a regular DJ at London’s DURRR night, then at sadly now closed The End. His ear for timing and selection was so fresh that it made sense to get him on board for the very first Dummy mix. Since then he’s been part of the extended Dummy family, contributing mixes and interviewing the likes of Erol and Rory Phillips for us too. Following his lovely remix of The 2 Bears, Avery has gone back to basics with a wonderful tape cassette mix entitled Love Divided (cover pic below). It’s a pleasure to share Side B here, a mind-melting, sensual trip featuring some of the most exciting new producers of recent times, from Legowelt to patten.

“I spent so much time in the studio at the end of last year that I wanted to do something which re-engaged the DJing side of my brain as well as showing my avid support for music in its physical form,” explains Dan. “Side A is very much for the club whilst this mix is very different. I do feel, however, that all the records included share a common ‘feeling.’ I wanted the tape to be more than your standard bootleg so I got permission from everyone included so that I could really push some of my favourite new artists and labels from the past year.”
