Live broadcast: Wolf + Lamb's Gadi live at Fabric, London

If you find yourself in Fabric on a Wednesday, you know it’s going to be different than the usual 5am three room weekend madness. The Wednesday this week past was no exception. New York City was definitely in the club as Wolf + Lamb’s Gadi Mizrahi, Valentin Stip, and Nicolas Jaar treated a packed out room one to a night of their city’s new brand of slowed down soulful dance music. The Wolf + Lamb duo and their label were the original Brooklyn pioneers in starting to bring down BPMs and steering the mid-late 2000’s disco revival towards a stripped down sound reminiscent of both modern deep house and 80s boogie. Gadi’s warm up set reflected this in its tune selection of remixed powerballads and old funk and soul classics from New Found Land’s edit of Mr. Mister’s Broken Wings to Roy Ayers’ Searching. Turn the lights right down and let this 80 minutes of smooth take you a summer Brooklyn rooftop soiree with a sleazy middle-aged man, whispering in your ear about taking a midnight walk across the Williamsburg Bridge.
