I first came across Gwilym Gold’s music when he came by our old office. Barely bigger than the office table and set above a greasy spoon in a warren of a recording studio, it wasn’t the most auspicious setting for one of the most important musicians in London. But there he was, dressed in black, drenched in jewellery and too bashful to fully make eye contact, playing his songs and telling us about a new idea he’d had.
