Foals introduce Petite Noir

About to go on tour with Oxford rockers Foals, 22 year old South African artist Yannick Ilunga, AKA Petite Noir, is quietly carving out a name for himself with his rich blend of soulful, belly-deep vocals and Afro-infused electronic beats. In the first edition of this new feature, where artists reveal to us whose music they’re most excited about right now, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis tells Dummy why Yannick is a talent to watch out for.

Yannis: “I first met Yannick at a club in Cape Town deep into the night, he passed me some bad acid and talked about something coming, something brooding, some new output from the bowels of Africa. A year on, I hear the startling Till We Ghosts and recognise his inimitable baritone voice. A voice which conveys passion, pain & hunger in every turn of tongue. He’s coming for you.”
