Watch Zomby's brilliant WWUI92 promo video

‘Where Were U In ’92?’ was Zomby’s 2008 rave recalling/recording album on Actress’s Werk Discs record label. On Saturday the enigmatic/omnipresent producer (depending whether you’re trying to locate him in real life or online) reissued it as a Record Store Day tie-in in rather splendid neon yellow vinyl form (salivate over it below) as the first release on his new CULT label. Apparently the first batch sold out (already £190 on Discogs, according to someone Zomby retweeted). However, until it restocks – surely? – you can still enjoy this short promo film that Sam Blair, film-maker and Werk associate, cut for the original release. A collage of street-level talking heads, from ravers to DJs and pirate radio dons, it’s a wonderful five-minute wander through a period in time that’s yet to be given the feature-length treatment. Rollo Jackson’s Tape Crackers got close, honing in on one man’s pirate radio taping obsession, but there are a myriad of stories still waiting to be told. This short film is a brilliant teaser, for both Zomby’s record and the rich documentary seam that awaits.
