Solange Knowles - Losing You

Solange Knowles has dropped her brand new single ‘Losing You’, co-written and produced by Dev Hynes (of Blood Orange fame) this morning, and with it comes this sun-streaked video, directed by Melina Matsoukas.

‘Losing You’ is a lovelorn slice of pop, pleading and pulsing with a sense of dancefloor anguish. Echoing the kind of heartbroken vocal reminiscent of Robyn, Solange stretches her relationship problems over clicks and hums, and wraps them up in a daze of synth, until they sound so good they almost don’t hurt any more.

Shot in Cape Town, the clip itself lifts the lid on Solange as a performer, revealing her slapstick-silly dance moves, her cheeky grin, and her flamboyant style. It has groups of people laughing and jumping into pools, which is about the most cliched form of fun you can have in a music video, but what the video lacks in imagination it makes up for in silly charm and an incredibly catchy song.

The single is available to download today, and will be out on vinyl on the 6th November via Terrible Records.
