SFV Acid - As Is (Part 1)

Our own recent (and, obviously, highly recommended) guide to acid house has a chapter on “Acid Today” that features SFV Acid – the 23 year-old Californian who “uses the same Roland hardware as the old masters but gets refreshingly new, non-imitative sounds out of it […] often feeling distinctly un-jacking, bearing as much resemblance to a DIY skater punk band as it does a Tyree Cooper record.”

As Is (Part 1) taps into the ennui of the producer’s sprawling San Fernando Valley locale: a huge place dotted with suburban homes, cars, designated green spaces and home to various entertainment giants and a vibrant but currently critically threatened porn industry. A sluggish track with a sweet melodic line made for gentle swaying and hazy meditations, it’s the soundtrack to some lounging so brazen and comprehensive it’s almost militant in this video.

As Is (Part 1) is taken from the ‘Neighborhood Archives’ EP, released on UNO NYC last October.
