Rhye - Open (Ryan Hemsworth remix)

A good musician does not always make a good remixer, yet Ryan Hemsworth always seems able to reinterpret other people’s music with a simple elegance – like all of the best indie/pop remixers, he strikes the balance between treating the source material with respect and transforming a track into his own. His remix of Open, the new single from Rhye, channels the soft, hushed melancholy of Rhye’s original song whilst underpinning it with a big, electro bassline. This probably isn’t even his best work, but that’s only because of the fantastic quality of his other remixes – it still puts many other re-works to shame.
