Premiere: Cold Pumas - Sherry Island

As the controlled guitar rhythm kick starts off the single, Cold Pumas’ video premiere for Sherry Island presents us with a visual feast of semi-hallucinatory, fruity delight.

Taking place in a rather exotically decorated room, we’re presented with a table strewn with seemingly ordinary household items, although it all seems rather askew, and most certainly random; a golden curtain is draped over the back wall, and watermelons, jelly and a pineapple lie on the table awaiting to be eaten by seemingly no one, until the band eventually fade into appearance.

The video evokes the classic feel of dressing up a dingy British household in an attempt to look at least remotely tropical, and the video arrangement for Sherry Island is nuanced massively by the band’s offbeat observations. The group themselves dissolve into one another, taking turns to indulge in the food and aperitifs at their disposal (with pretty messy, dribbling results), something which runs parallel to the decline in speed and eventual stoppage of Sherry Island itself.

Cold Pumas’ debut album ‘Persistent Malaise’ will be released on 5th November via Faux Discx, Gringo Records and Italian Beach Babes, and they’re about to embark on a UK tour with Sauna Youth (dates here). In the mean time it’s worth enjoying the exclusive video for Sherry Island, included just above.
