New American Noise: SFV Acid by Tyrone Lebon

SFV Acid was filmed by Tyrone Lebon for a short video portrait recently, one of six in a ‘New American Noise’ series commissioned by Nokia Music and Somesuch & Co for this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Each episode features a specific movement in a city, but this one focuses on the single musician and his unique view of his hometown, with wide shots blurred at the sides and the flotsam from everyday conversation interspersed with interviews in order to show how his music feels more than explain what exactly it is – stripping away any preconceived ideas about the Valley or LA.

For more on the series: on Portland’s Noise scene; New Orlean’s sissy bounce; the intersections between garage rock and electronic experimentation in Detroit; underground rap talent from New York (which we recently previewed), and another by Lebon on Atlanta hip-hop, click here.
