Maria Minerva - Lovecool
Maria Minerva, the Estonia-born, London-based artist, released her debut album ‘Tallinn At Dawn’ on Not Not Fun this year, as well as the ‘Noble Savage’ 12” on Not Not Fun sub-label 100% Silk. This week she released her album ‘Cabaret Cixous’ (the title a reference to feminist Hélène Cixous), another work of tape-saturated, frothy disco, that sways slowly with beautiful dizziness between light clouds of synthesized noise and dance-floor twitchiness. You can watch the video to album track Lovecool now, the patchwork simplicity and bold colours of it reminiscent of a children’s tv show perhaps, fitting in with the wide-eyed, loose approach of her music. The album is available digitally now, and will be released on vinyl later this month. She will also play her debut show in London on the 22nd of August.
