Watch Katy B perform a stripped back cover of a UK garage classic

Katy B's arrival on the scene in 2011 with 'On A Mission' seems destined to be forever misremembered as a blocky "voice of dubstep" moment, even though her main skill was bringing together many different elements of recent London club music and translating them into a pop setting in a way that no one had properly managed to before. Her second album, 'Little Red' (out next week on Rinse/Columbia) can be viewed a test to see if she can repeat that success, without the debut factor, and in an increasingly crowded market.

Performances like this assured Live Longue cover of N'n'G and Kallaghan's UKG anthem Right Before My Eyes (dating from back in 1998, although it was also re-released with an added MC Neat verse and became a Top 20 chart hit in 2000) show that her talents aren't tied to a particular time or scene, and understanding what dance and pop music should be comes before figuring out what they are right now for Katy B. 

Rinse/Columbia will release 'Little Red' on February 10th 2014.
