Julia Holter - Für Felix live at Other Music

With the release of 2011’s ‘Tragedy’ and this year’s companion piece ‘Ekstasis’, Julia Holter has set herself apart from just about everyone ever with her beautifully crafted and lucid compositions. Holter’s self-contained works sound as though they were wrought from ether and it is good to see the artist, flanked by supporting cello and percussion, performing live and doing it so perfectly. She plays Für Felix one of the shorter tracks on ‘Ekstasis’ live at the cosy New York record store Other Music and the interspersed interview also covers the making of her album and the transition from recording to live performance. It’s simply a joy to watch.
