Holly Herndon - Chorus

It's been a while since we heard from Holly Herndon, the San Francisco-based computer musician and techno academic behind one of 2012's most strikingly original debut full-lengths, 'Movement'. Today she's announced a new single, Chorus, which is built on samples from Herndon's daily internet browsing experiences – your standard Youtube and Skype sessions included – and sets them to a solid techno thump.

Chorus was a "laborious studio effort", according to a press release from her label, RVNG Intl., but its b-side, Solo Voice, was tracked in a single take. You can stream the a-side via a rather terrifying music video above. RVNG Intl. also promise a web-based tool that will allow users to "compose their own version of Chorus around a browser-based experience" in a press release. Colour us intrigued.

Check the EP tracklist below. Herndon has written one of Dummy's most fascinating lists (the 10 most "woah" uses of technology – that title alone should say all you need to know) and gave a very interesting interview to Dummy back in 2012.

Tracklist:

01. Chorus
02. Solo Voice

RVNG Intl. will release Chorus on January 21st 2014.
