Dean Blunt - Felony / Stalker 7

The latest visual from London-based artist Dean Blunt splices two tracks together (neither of which was heard on his latest album ‘The Redeemer’) over some very lo-fi footage. Following him to a cliff’s edge, the video is first soundtracked by Felony, a track rich with country-tinged guitars, the swell of a string section and looped backing vocals, all unravelling around the foreboding central refrain “it’s going down”. After a couple of minutes, Stalker 7 bumps into life, changing the tone completely with its hip hop groove and newly threatening attitude. As Blunt stares straight into the camera, the phrase “I’ve been watching you” circles on repeat, shifting the viewer from an empathetic observer to the uncomfortable subject of observation. There’s also a lot of slow motion footage of dogs running; take from that what you will.
