Azealia Banks - Harlem Shake (remix)

The Harlem Shake meme has gone absolutely bonkers in the last few weeks, but in Baauer’s eyes the trap banger has had some rather more unwanted attention in the shape of an Azealia Banks “remix” released at the end of last week. Despite Baauer’s claims that the remix had been considered for release last year but was shelved, the Harlem rapper has stayed steadfast in her belief that she had a right to release it. As if to further clarify this, she’s now put together this accompanying video, which sees her dance around the studio and mime the track into a Hello Kitty brush.

It’s a decent enough visual, and as we noted with BBD at the beginning of last month, Azealia’s delivery sounds as eased and assured as ever. But the fact that releasing this may just be a way to further ruffle Baauer’s feathers feels a bit uncomfortable, and it’s certainly not her debut album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ – whose slated “12th February” release is literally becoming more distant with each passing day.

Broke With Expensive Taste’ will be released at some point in the near-ish future (we hope).
