Eli Escobar's remix has Kim crying tears of pink, but she's ready to move on.
What do we call this beautiful hybrid of pop vocals with chugging dance beats, that make mainstream sensibilities cool again? We're not 100% sure how to define it but Eli Escobar's remix of Los Angeles based singer Kim Anh's cheerful summer track Shadows is the perfect example.
Co-produced with Sam Sparro, Kim empties her heart on the original track in a build-up that is reminiscent of Juan MacLean and Nancy Whang, only maybe with more pink. Staying mindful of Kim's passionate vocals, Eli Escobar offers a deeper slice of pie and creates something you'd be more than happy to tuck into towards the end of the night. Spiralling and The rework reaches into every corner, parcelling up a sense of energy and melancholy with powerful drops and an outro to die for. Crying tears of pink, Kim's heart is still broken, but she's ready to move on.
Kim Anh's 'Shadows' EP is out now on Yellow Year Records.
