Just Jam at the Barbican event cancelled due to police concerns

In surprising and disappointing news, this Saturday's event has been called off for public safety reasons.

London based online music TV channel Just Jam have announced that their upcoming event at the Barbican scheduled for this Saturday (1st March) has been cancelled. The proposed one-off expansion of the channel's long-running live show in the popular art centre, a celebration of live urban music with a packed line-up of musicians, dancers and visual artists, has been called off amid police concerns for public safety.

A Barbican spokesperson has said: “The Barbican has taken the decision to cancel the Just Jam concert that was scheduled to take place on 1 March 2014 on the grounds of public safety following dialogue with the City of London Police. As a responsible public venue we have to take police advice seriously and consider the safety of audience members, artists and our staff. We apologise for any disappointment caused to ticket holders and artists and will be offering a full refund to everyone who has booked tickets for this event."

Just Jam have released this statement:

"It’s with great regret that we have to announce that the Just Jam event at the Barbican has been cancelled.

We wanted to put on an evening celebrating a diverse range of electronic music and art and are very disappointed that concerns raised by the City of London police mean that the event has been called off. We’re struggling to understand why this has happened and will try to start a dialogue with the police so we can discuss whatever issues they have with Just Jam at the Barbican.

The workshops we’ve recently ran with the Barbican in Fellows Court in Hackney have shown how the artists we work with can get young people from all backgrounds excited about making art and music, we hope to continue working on this and on other projects, with the Barbican in the future.
Sorry to disappoint ticket bookers, we had sold over 1000 tickets to the event and it was widely expected to sell out. All ticket holders will receive a full refund from the Barbican If you paid by credit or debit card the refund will be automatically credited to your account. If you paid by any other method you will receive a cheque.

Once again we would like to thank everyone who have been involved in this project. We have some very exciting projects coming up.
