From instantly recognisable riffs to the cutest house record ever made, Riton shares some of his favourite afrobeat inspired tracks.
Riton is one of the most versatile, shape-shifting producers out there. From his early, sexed up throwback jams on 'Homies And Homos' such as Out In The Open, through to his more recent clubbed out productions like High Come Down on his own imprint Riton Time, he is a producer with the right sound for every situation.
Now, after spending six months holed up in an isolated studio above a dumpling factory in New York City, Riton returns with an acid tinged club track, Rinse & Repeat. Already close to tipping a million plays on Soundcloud, it features Lagos based vocalist Kah-Lo on the beat for a warped and uplifting cut that reaches is peak when the sun goes down.
In anticipation of the Rinse & Repeat release this Friday, the producer shares his favourite afrobeat inspired tracks, with a sweet bonus at the end. Read below and listen to Riton's selections via our YouTube playlist.
Riton: “Definitely on the European side of afrobeat but Innervisions always deliver the goods."
Riton: "Wizkid seems to be a hit machine. I like the jazzy afrobeats and super mellow style on this."
Riton: "Boys and their toys is best way to describe the video for this. Great track "
Riton: “Instantly recognisable riff and wicked African rhythms make this one an absolute anthem."
Riton: "Just the cutest house song ever made. Serious talent coming out of Ghana in the shape of Ata Kak."
Riton: “I love an uptempo track with a rap me! Not easy to nail but this works."
Riton: "If this doesn’t bring joy to your life then I’m sorry..."
Riton: “The video says it all really."
Riton: "B B B BONUS....The documentary on Fela."
Riton's Rinse & Repeat is out February 26th on Riton Time (pre-order).
