Holly Herndon - Home

Holly Herndon loves her computer, but what happens when you find out that your computer has been cheating on you the whole time?

On her new single Home, Herndon tries to come to terms with how her relationship with computers – which she once described as "the most intimate instrument we have at our disposal" – has been affected by the ongoing NSA spying revealations.

"I entrusted so much in my device," Herndon says in a press release for the single, "To learn this intimacy had been compromised felt like a grand betrayal. Is everything done privately on my laptop to be considered a public performance? In Home, I address that invisible audience. It is a love song for prying eyes (an agent / a critic), and also a break up song with the devices with which I shared a naive relationship. There is something dramatic, teenage and vulnerable to this sensation – our relationships with these interconnected devices are still so young, so naive."

Musically, Home sees the experimental musician build on the vocal production style of this year's Chorus, while also being Herndon's most outright 'pop' moment, with a really focused structure and lyrical focus. The song is out and available to purchase now.

RVNG Intl. release Home on September 16th 2014 (buy).
