Velour - Speedway

One of the more interesting tidbits to emerge over the Christmas break was the return of Velour, the on-off collaborative project of Julio Bashmore and Hyetal. Speedway is a rolling funk number, its synths sounding exactly as you’d expect from its two authors and with a thick beat torn from the Egyptian Lover’s rulebook. The duo were last spotted working together on 2010’s sleazy ‘Booty Slammer’ EP for Night Slugs (one of this particular writer’s favourite records of recent times, FYI), and this new cut will see a release through Bashmore’s own Broadwalk Records.
