Shamir - In For The Kill

In 2009, Richard and Mayumi Heene allowed a gas balloon filled with helium to float away in Fort Collins, Colorado, claiming that their six-year-old son Falcon was inside. It later turned out to be an elaborate hoax, though six years on it serves as the inspiration to Shamir Bailey's new video for In For The Kill, taken from his debut album 'Ratchet'.

Directed by Anthony Sylvester, the clip details Shamir's panic-inducing trip in the sky, before being brought back down to the ground when his unidentified flying object hits a turbine. Here's what Shamir had to say about In For The Kill in a press release:

"In For the Kill" is about making sacrifices to do things that make you happy. For me, that’s making and playing music. I had to leave a lot of things back in Vegas in order to do music – family, friends, certain trinkets I collect because I’m a very sentimental person. When you make music, you almost have to disappear and go deep inside yourself so that you can come back and give people something that feels honest to you. "In For the Kill" is a song for me to show that what I’m doing is not an easy thing. It’s something that I have to work hard towards."

Shamir's debut album 'Ratchet' is out now on XL Recordings (buy).
