K-Pop supergroup Girls Generation live on Letterman

Korea, one of the most exciting (and cruel) places for pop music in the world, stressing as they do the core principles of technology, tunes and ambition, has produced few more successful bands than the nine-strong Girls Generation. There’s been footsteps around K-Pop from the underground, with Elite Gymnastics in particular beating the drum for the sound, and a swarm of interest (at least from us) around the appearance of 2NE1 on British soil for the London Korean Film Festival but this is the first impression of Universal’s push to break K-Pop in North America. To be totally honest, the rather lateral environment of the Letterman show isn’t the best place for pop so surreally explosive, but it’s still a very interesting thing that is happening.
